Yesterday in Chiasso, at the 6th meeting on cantonal corporate mobility, the discussion focused on how we get around—and how we could get around better—in border regions.
The topic was challenging and timely: designing mobility for those who live and work between two frontiers, between Ticino and Lombardy.
MomòRide had a stand during the networking break and was mentioned in several speeches throughout the afternoon:
🔹 Silvia Passiglia (Municipality ofChiasso) presented the project as part of the fifth-generation Mendrisiotto Agglomeration Program, confirming the Municipality's role as a promoter and institutional partner.
🔹 Claudio Boscarino (lastminute.com) shared the concrete experience of colleagues who use MomòRide daily to get to work—a tangible example of how carpooling can be integrated into corporate mobility.
🔹 Fabio Salvatore (lastminute foundation) highlighted the foundation's contribution to the project, demonstrating the private sector's commitment to more sustainable mobility solutions.
Carpooling isn't just a solution to road congestion: it's a concrete solution for reducing travel costs, cutting emissions, and building communities among colleagues and neighbors. In a border region like Mendrisiotto, where many people travel similar routes every day, it has enormous potential yet to be realized.
Thanks to all the speakers, participants, and organizers from the Department of Territory for providing a space for authentic and constructive discussion.
MomòRide is a Project promoted by the municipalities of Chiasso, Balerna, and Novazzano in collaboration with the Regional Agency for the Development of Mendrisiotto and Basso Ceresio, lastminute foundation, the Pian Faloppia Economic Development Pole, and Mobitrends SA.
